MAMALEEK WHARF RATS IN THE MOONLIGHT

San Fransisco metal deconstructionists Mamaleek release second single from up coming album Diner Coffee, 'Wharf Rats In The Moonlight'. After spending years as a two-piece made up of anonymous brothers, Diner Coffee, along with their previous record Come And See sees the group embracing more of a full-band arrangement, experimenting with a variety of more collaborative recording techniques including live band performances, improvisations, samples, field recordings and utilising horns and woodwind instruments. Similarly to previous single 'Boiler Room', 'Wharf Rats In The Moonlight' is congruent clash of genres and styles that is unified by a sense of ominous dread; strangled vocals strain over skippy jazz arrangements, flutes and pretty guitar lines are harassed by leaking feedback and noise and the constant threat of dissonance, it is an erratic and fascinating song that heightens the intrigue of the upcoming record. New album Diner Coffee is due out on experimental San Fransisco label The Flenser on October 30th. -Toby Evans-Jesra
